The Enemy: Tony Beam

The Amiable Atheist reports on a blog post written by pastor / “Professor” Tony Beam entitled “Knowing The Enemy and How We Must Fight“. In it, the pastor argues that neo-atheism and Islam are the enemies of Christianity, and we must be stopped.

I find it quite amusing that the first paragraph talks about how Beam had trouble writing the title. He argues that Christ did say “Blessed are the peacemakers”, but Paul wrote “fight the good fight”. Wow…taking Paul’s words over God’s??? That might not go down so well with the big “G” and the big “J” to be honest…but it does show the idiotic nature of these people. They will go through the entire Bible, ignoring anything said by Jesus or anything contradictory to make a point against something.

So what does Tony Beam conclude from the threat of Islam and atheism?

We must replace “Regressive Christianity” with the mystery of an aggressive yet gentle faith that is firmly grounded in God’s Word and faithfully demonstrated in the lives of God’s people.

Great, so even more fundamentalists trying to enforce their religious dogma on innocent people.

it’s amazing how they pick and choose whatever fits their mood, isn’t it?
    cheers!

I like the “agressive yet gentle” line. Give the kids niquil, before you lovingly smother them with the pillow. It’s what Jesus, I mean Paul, would do!

I realize that this is an old post, but I just wanted to say that as a Christian from the same vein as Tony Beam, (I grew up in a community not far from where he has his radio show, and I went to the college at which he is on staff), I’m not a big fan of the guy. His Christianity seems as if it is no more than a means to a political ends. Unfortunately, quite a few Christians are this way. Which is why I can understand why there are people out there who think it would behoove us all if religion was eradicated. I disagree, but I understand.

Well, I happen to be a student of his. And kid you not, He is a man with Christ in his life, his relationship with Christ is more in depth than fighting for politics. He is a kind generous man with a heart that is passionate for people and loving them. He has no hate crime, he is just defending what he stands for, what this country was founded on. We don’t hate anyone, disagreeing is different than hating.

The Bible is the Word of God……Paul’s words were divinley inspired…

…maybe you should do your research….
