The Manners And Morals Of A Small Child

The title of this blogpost comes from a popular quote by Robert A Heinlein.

Men rarely (if ever) manage to dream up a God superior to themselves. Most Gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child.

I personally think this is shown quite well in Edward Current’s latest video on YouTube entitled “An Atheist Meets God”.

It’s meant to be a comedic look at Christian beliefs I know, but it’s an accurate depiction of Christian beliefs. Perhaps it might show some Christians exactly why we don’t believe in a God who doesn’t have any logic behind it. Better still, the video addresses a few common issues of concern for Christianity, namely the whole premise about having to find Jesus Christ to get to Heaven (so what happens to all the people who have never even heard of the Bible?), and the “creator of the creator” paradox.

I know this is meant to be satire, but this is exactly how things were explained to me in my church growing up.

The question of who created God in the first place is shenanigans, really. It ought to be obvious, like d’oh!

God was created by his goddamned parents!

Wrong! God was created by the Big Bang – which he then proceeded to create. It's all impossibly simple.
