Some New Atheist Quotes
Regular visitors to the blog will have noticed that a few weeks ago I added a random quote generator to the top of the site, which serves an atheist quote every time the page is loaded. The quotes were originally from one of my first blog posts “101 Atheist Quotes“, with the occasional one added in when I find it.
I’ve also recently purchased the book “The Quotable Atheist” which is full of quotes about atheism / religion from popular people, so a few more should be added when I flick through it and find great ones.
The thing is, anyone can make atheist quotes. The popular ones are made by well-known people since they have a massive advantage of getting the quote out in the public domain. Some other popular ones are marked as “anonymous” but logic confirms they must have had some kind of origin. Why should atheist quotes be confined to anonymous people or popular philosophers / thinkers?
Back in May, I asked my forum members to come up with their own atheist quotes, which would be added to the random quote generator on the forums. Now that we’ve got a few I can fulfill my promise, but I’m also going to put them on the main site, and make the thread known to anyone who reads this post. So if anyone can think up any atheist quotes that are original (or witty modifications) please either join the forums and post, or post them in the comments to this article. They will *eventually* be added to the random quote generator with your name (if you give it) or your alias you use here. If you want your name linked to your website, please make it known!
What follows is a collection of the quotes so far added to the random quote generator:
I stopped believing in God the same time I stopped believing in Santa Clause, and for the same reason. - akbar “buffet style theist”
Everything I see around me day-to-day and everything I learn confirms in my mind that there is nothing supernatural going on. - allan175
Saying a supernatural God created the universe has about as much credibility as saying George W. Bush is intelligent. - Nick A.
Someone once said, “Religion is the force that rescued man from barbarism”, which is like saying, “Wall Street rescued mankind from poverty” - Neowolfe
Following a religion is like using someone else’s character in a game of D&D. It works until you realize that you could have done a better job creating it yourself. - oliver
If God cared enough to want me to care, he should tell me. - oliver
And finally a few of my own:
Believers claim that atheists are cold and empty inside, and yet the same people claim that the only reason we are good is because some almighty being made us that way. To me, that seems pretty cold and empty.
Claiming Evolution led to the Holocaust is akin to claiming that gravity is responsible for every single war. Without gravity, bullets wouldn’t fly, and bombs wouldn’t drop, so please stop your incredulous claims that a fact of nature is responsible when it was clearly the work of men.
Religion is faith without the need for knowledge. Science is knowledge without the need for faith.

Man… that D&D quote was one that I wrote when I was up too late at night and not thinking straight. There are much better quotes.

Here’s a couple of mine:
For a book that is the supposed word of god, and this god is meant to be infallible, there are certainly a fair share of errors within the Bible.
- Moiz Khan
There is nothing simpler than this nonsense, which a child can easily pick apart (and do)…yet it receives a general label of a taboo subject. It is time we end this special treatment of religious faith, and especially Islam…for if we deny ourselves the right to free and intellectual discourse, we will deny ourselves the advancements of modernity, and the joys of liberty.
- Moiz Khan (on censorship by Islam)
I’ll post some more if you like those… :P

I don’t get it. Jesus is executed and then rises from the dead. He can do this. In fact, Christians say he can enter this plane of being, this life, at any time he choses. So what is the sacrifice? Furthermore, according ot Christians, this earth, this existence, this veil of tears, compared to heaven is like living in a dumpster compared to living in a palace. Why is it a sacrifice to get kicked out of the dumpster to go live in a palace in eternal bliss. Yet this story is rated as the greatest sacrifice ever made. Only if you believe death is final can it be a sacrifice at all.

I’m not really an “atheist” unless compared to a religious person. What they call an “atheist,” I call nothing really, besides “normal.”

My contribution:
People ask, how can you trust an atheist’s moral compass without a god to guide it? Well, no atheist in history ever hurt someone because of their supernatural beliefs, but somehow believers have managed to justify killing billions thanks to theirs. Which group seems more balanced and loving to you?
My contribution, condensed:
History says: you’re way safer with atheists.

Here’s a few things I’ve come up with. Also, its so good to know there are fellow Atheists out there with the same convictions and intelligence as me. I was starting to feel alone. Lol.
God:- An intangible being with no proof of ever existing at all. The Universe:-A physical thing that we currently occupy thereby proving its existence. I know which one I’m betting on.
Priests:- The most convincing liar is one who believes he is telling the truth.
I think its fitting that God is mostly referred to as a man. The majority of societies dictators have been male as well.
“Do not worship any other god, for the Lord whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34: 14) Isn’t jealousy a sin? So, if someone believed in a different god, The (supposed one and only) God would be jealous, ENVIOUS if you will, one of the seven deadly sins created in the time of early christian teachings. Well, Gods a great role model than hmmm? I wonder how many other Sins God has done. Is it PRIDE that keeps Him from revealing Himself? And by not using his supposed Omnipotent power to reach His full potential, isn’t that SLOTH-full?
God gave us free will, only to have it called a sin if we use it to deny him.
Why must religion, who preaches equality, show a blatant disregard for it?

The bible states that if you ask god to forgive your sins or soul will be saved. This proves that god’s love is fair and just. However, when jesus died on the cross he, according to the bible, took on all the sins of man (past, present, and future)so that we could be forgiven. Nowhere ,in the bible, does it state that jesus ever asked to be forgiven for these sins. Therefore, he died a sinner. Which, by all means, would indicate that he should go to hell. Doesn’t that prove that this “fair and just, loving god” can and does or at least has played favorites?
