Alex asked: "wait, why would it be a problem for science? Wouldn’t it be a problem for engineering?"

Do you ask about the "singularity"?

It is a problem for science because it is a manifestation of the models/theories of natural phenomena which science seeks to understand.

They are not a problem for engineering as *true* singularities do not exist.

However they can be a problem for engineering student taking a course in complex analysis ;-)

... or for that matter for engineers who use residues in their work.

I was just wondering how often if ever the singularity is discussed here.

"The singularity" is a problem for science. There are none in nature.

... discussion begun ;-)

Alex,

I don't really discuss it much. I'm just really not that interested in it as a concept (not to mention it goes over my head). I like the science I can understand :D

Hey, I'm new to this blog. I was just wondering how often if ever the singularity is discussed here. I've been reading some books by Ray Kurzweil on the subject and can't help but find it relevant to the subject.
