I do not understand why someone would want to base their blog on something they do not believe. It is as though what you do not believe is your identity.

It is because of the majority theists that I blog about atheism. If there were no theists (or not many theists) then I would not blog about atheism at all, there would be no point. Just as a I don't blog about the non-existence of Santa Claus. Minorities need voices, and I provide just one of those.

It would appear that what you do not believe in is important to you that you want your non-belief to be the first thing that I know about you.

Not true, but this is an atheist blog so people tend to come here expecting things on atheism. If I met you in real life, I probably wouldn't mention my atheism unless you asked. This is a personal blog, but only in that I talk about personal experiences with religion. I'm not going to post about everything in my life (I have Twitter for that!)

I do not understand why someone would want to base their blog on something they do not believe. It is as though what you do not believe is your identity. It would appear that what you do not believe in is important to you that you want your non-belief to be the first thing that I know about you. I thought that for an atheist religion was not relevant to their human experience. Likewise, I would think that your non-belief be just as non-relevant. (I no not believe in the elves or fairies, however, that is not the first thing that I want you to know about me.)

I just do not understand why your non-belief is so important. With respect and curiosity….

A somewhat belated happy birthday to you. I've emailed you through the site, hoping you'll do an article for my magazine Gay & Lesbian Humanist, and it may interest other readers to take a look, too. It's at http://www.gayandlesbianhumanist.org. Although it's historically aimed at the LGBT community, it probably has more general humanism/secularism/freethought articles in it than those that specifically concern lesbians and gays. We're always on the lookout for contributors, whether that be to the letters slot or as writers of suitable articles. So I hope you and/or some of your readers might get in touch, whether gay or straight, male or female, atheist or religious.
