Charles Darwin 200th Anniversary £2 Coin

The Royal Mint commissioned a special edition £2 coin in honour of Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday. The coin is a limited edition of 25,000, and mine arrived this morning!

Presentation Pack

The presentation pack (above) has a short but detailed biography of Charles Darwin, as well as information about Evolution, and of course the coin itself. I think the front of the coin is pretty awesome:

There are still coins available if you want to buy one. They cost £7.99 each (plus shipping), and well worth it if you want a nice souvenir of Darwin’s 200th year. You can buy the coin from the Royal Mint website.

    £7.99 for a £2 coin? Someone's being made a monkey of here!

    £7.99 for a £2 coin PLUS a cool decorative case. It's a collectible too.

I can't get one. The United States is not listed in their country list, unless I'm blind, but I'm pretty sure it's not there.

Nevermind, I finally found it. They abbreviated it to USA, I'm not used to that in a country list. XD

I was gonna say…bit odd not to have the USA there :D

I know, right? Usually it's preset or listed first in drop down lists for American websites, and whenever it's alphabetical it's listed as "United States of America" and that's what I was looking for, not USA. Silly website.

But yay, I was able to order, although I paid more for shipping. Oh well. To be expected.

The cost drops to £6.95 if you use special offer code AT047 in your shopping basket.
