Good info. I'll just chime in to say that Twitter has brought quite a few new readers to my blog. Used correctly, it really can help advance one's blog. Used poorly, however, it can damage one's brand and even earn one a reputation as a douchebag.

Great article, lots of useful tips.
Regards twitter clients, I have been using http://tweetvisor.com/ a browser interface which has a lot of similarities to tweetdeck. One of it's best features is the 'Show Conversation' function. If someone has replied to someone else you can click the 'Show Conversation' link and see all the replies, a very useful function to work out what someone is talking about.
The main reason I use Tweetvisor is because you don't have to install any programs (forbidden or prevented at some work places) you just open your browser of choice and go to http://tweetvisor.com/ . Seesmic also has a browser only interface http://seesmic.com/app/ which is quite good (though it doesn't have 'conversation' function or the inline twitpic preview) with an excellent search ability (something tweetvisor lacks a bit).
